This week, my primary focus was identifying my topic for action research with the input from all stakeholders. I meet with my site supervisor and she asked that I propose a survey for teacher feedback and suggestions. This was very successful in that I was able to gain their insights and valuable input for a proposed action research project. They are very curious to see the outcome of my action research project. I gained insight to the real-life action research conducted by two scholars, as well as, became familiar with the nine common target areas or themes of school-based research which are: staff development, curriculum development, individual teacher(s), individual student(s), school culture/community, leadership, management, school performance, and social justice or equity issues (Dana, 2009). I learned that each of the nine major wonderings from the Dana text are interrelated and referenced overall student achievement. For example, staff development is key in addressing the needs of teachers so, that they will intern meet the need of their students (Dana, 2009).
